What are Pinwheels for Prevention?
The CAYA Pinwheels for Prevention Program works through its projects to strengthen the well-being of children, adolescents and families through community involvement by:
FOSTERING small acts of Primary Prevention, the often ordinary things we can all do to increase well-being, BUILDING an awareness that EVERYONE HAS A ROLE in strengthening well-being, including school-age children from Young Fives to Grade 12.
The 2025 Pinwheels for Prevention Program has come to an end. Many blue and silver pinwheels could be seen all around town!
Special thanks to the following community members who supported the program by planting pinwheel gardens this year!

CAYA's Pinwheels for Prevention Community Kick-off - TOGETHER FOR PREVENTION
-
Project co-hosted with CCS bringing together cross section of community members committed to the well-being of our children and adolescents.
-
This year's main themes were:
-
If something feels too hard to start, it means your first step is not small enough.
-
Small acts of primary prevention matter for all kids.
-
Sometimes we need to think small because prevention is not always about grand gestures-it is about those simple daily moments that strengthen a child's well-being
-
Inspiring last words about how much more powerful our impact ca be when we consolidate our efforts.
-

When a child walks into a room, your child or anyone else's child, do your eyes light up? That is what is they are looking for. -Toni Morrison
Everyone has a story.
Your small act of kindness could make a big difference to someone else.
