Music Mashup Program Highlights:
Overview of Music Mashup
Students will have the opportunity to play a variety of percussion instruments, as well as learn basic rhythms through hands-on experiences. During the 6-week session, we will also introduce students to a variety of musical instruments and include a brief overview of their origin and a demonstration.
Music Mashup Activities:
1) Drum Circle - Students gather in a circle and play different percussion instruments together, creating rhythms and beats.
2) Bucket Drumming - Provide each student with a plastic bucket and drumsticks to create a makeshift drum set. Teach basic drumming techniques and rhythms using the buckets.
3) Percussion Karaoke - Combine popular songs with percussion instruments, allowing students to play along with familiar music, like popular kids' songs or cartoon theme songs and teach basic rhythms to accompany the music.
4) Percussion Freeze Dance - Play rhythmic music and the students will play percussion instruments to the music, while dancing around the room. When the music stops, students must freeze and hold their instruments still until the music starts again.
4) Cultural Music Exploration: We will take a journey around the world through music to learn about different cultures and their unique instruments, rhythms, and songs.
5) Demonstrations of Instruments - Throughout the year, we will have demonstrations of various instruments, such as guitar, keyboards, horns and saxophone.
6) Performances - Students will have the opportunity to be showcased at school events to demonstrate their new musical skills.
